  • Spectacular French Literary ball
I am writing to you from the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square. This is to invite you to the very first Literary Ball outside France, taking place at the Royal Court on Friday 2 July. The Literary ball is collaboration between 5 French and 5 British Playwrights to create a bi-lingual piece of theatre, telling a story with songs.

We are contacting you because we know you work alongside and are in contact with people who have a great interest in French culture. As part of our outreach we are trying to target people who have a taste for French culture, literature and arts, and we hope that you will tell them about our Literary ball which includes some of the finest French and British Playwrights.

The Literary ball has a fantastic line up with some of the UK’s and France’s foremost playwrights. The writers will collaborate to tell a unique story, one which includes songs that stir up a sense of nostalgia, songs that we all know and love and can tap our feet and sing along to. What’s different about this piece is that the writers will only get a day to rehearse.

    Ten Playwrights include
Marion Aubert, Alexi Kaye Campbell, Nathalie Fillion, Samuel Gallet, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Fabrice Melquiot, Nina Raine, Mark Ravenhill, Pauline Sales and Penelope Skinner.

    Royal Festival Hall
    Queen Elizabeth Hall Belvedere Rd
    SE1 8XX

    23rd November 2010
    7.30pm

Dubbed red hot by The New York Times Helene Grimaud is a pianist with a difference. She expresses her vivid personality and passionate playing in this performance of piano classics drawn from across 200 years. Mozarts A minor Piano Sonata is a work of tremendous energy that feels much ahead of its day.

Bergs Piano Sonata stems from the heady yet unsettling atmosphere of early 20th century Vienna intensely emotional and tightly wrought. Liszts Sonata in B minor is one of the iconic pieces of its time a virtuoso tone poem in one gigantic movement that feels full of narrative drama. To close Bartoks Romanian Dances brings the irresistible exoticism of Transylvanian folk music into the concert hall.
